Innovation — How Tonomia Reinvents AI Infrastructure
Our Innovation

Hardware × Software.
Engineered as one.

Every competitor sells hardware or software. Tonomia is the only company that designed both from scratch as a single closed-loop system — where the container’s 1,500+ sensors feed a real-time AI brain that optimises compute, energy, cooling, and carbon in one unified decision every five seconds. The result: an AI factory that runs itself, heats the building next door, and costs a fraction of a traditional data centre.

The Big Picture

What makes Tonomia different?

No jargon. No buzzwords. Just the three things that matter.

🏭 A complete AI factory in a shipping container
Everything you need — powerful GPU servers, battery storage, liquid cooling, fire safety — packed into a single transportable unit. It arrives on a truck, connects to power and internet, and starts running AI workloads within days. No construction. No permits for buildings.
♻️ Waste heat becomes useful energy
Traditional data centres blow hot air into the sky — wasting up to 40% of their electricity as heat. Tonomia captures that heat and sends it to nearby buildings for heating in winter, or converts it to cooling in summer. AI compute pays for part of the building’s energy bill.
🧠 Hardware and software designed as one
The physical container and the management software were engineered together from day one. The software reads thousands of sensors every 5 seconds and continuously optimises power, cooling, workloads, and energy sales — automatically.
Hardware Innovation · TonoForge™

Seven hardware innovations in one container

Each TonoForge™ unit packs 300 kW of AI compute, integrated battery storage, liquid-cooled GPU racks, and a rooftop thermal superstructure into a single ISO container — factory-tested, crane-deployable, operational in days.

Engineer level — Each card shows the plain-English summary and the technical detail underneath.

INNOVATION 01
All-in-One AI Factory
A complete, transportable AI factory: GPUs, batteries, cooling, and thermal export — all in a single ISO container delivered on a flatbed truck.
Modular battery racks on a DC bus, liquid-cooled GPU/CPU server racks on a facility loop, rooftop thermal assembly, and external couplings for bidirectional heat exchange. Seismic-anchored to ISO corner castings.
INNOVATION 02
Four-Mode Thermal System
Automatically switches between heating, cooling, and free-cooling modes depending on the season and what the nearby building needs.
Dynamically switches between heat recovery, absorption cooling, vapour compression, and free cooling based on ambient conditions, building demand, and real-time COP optimisation. Exports up to 150 kW of usable thermal energy.
INNOVATION 03
Hot-Swap GPU Sleds
Replace any GPU card without shutting down the cooling or stopping other servers. Zero downtime maintenance.
Per-sled blind-mate liquid couplings, tool-free isolation valves, automatic purge-and-prime cycles, per-sled leak detection with predictive analytics that flag issues before they cause downtime.
INNOVATION 04
Joint Energy-Compute Optimisation
One brain manages electricity, cooling, and AI jobs together — using weather forecasts, energy prices, and carbon data to minimise cost.
A single MPC/RL optimisation engine manages electrical, thermal, and computational objectives simultaneously — ingesting renewable forecasts, grid pricing, carbon intensity, and building demand to issue coordinated setpoints.
INNOVATION 05
Dual-Compartment Safety
Batteries and servers live in separate fireproof rooms with independent fire suppression, ventilation, and emergency shutoff.
≥60 min fire-rated bulkhead, independent aisles, zoned suppression (clean-agent for servers, water-mist for batteries), DC isolation contactors, roof-vented pressure relief, sequenced safing protocol.
INNOVATION 06
Modular Rooftop System
The cooling/heating system sits on the roof and can be crane-lifted on or off. Multiple containers daisy-chain for larger deployments.
Field-removable rooftop anchored to ISO corner castings, vibration-isolated chiller platforms, blind-mate piping spine, quick-disconnect harnesses, daisy-chain headers. Factory pressure-tested, crane-liftable.
INNOVATION 07
District Energy Interfaces
Every container plugs into local heating/cooling networks — selling waste heat to buildings and earning carbon credits automatically.
Metered thermal interfaces with flow sensors, temperature monitors, automated valves, and pump controls. Fleet coordinator routes workloads to whichever factory offers the best compute cost + thermal export + latency + compliance.
Software Innovation · TonoFabric™

Six software layers that make it all work

TonoFabric™ is the orchestration brain. It makes dozens of distributed AI factories behave as a single, intelligent system — managing compute, energy, heat, compliance, economics, and resilience as one unified problem.

Engineer level — Plain summary + technical detail for each layer.

LAYER 01 · INFRASTRUCTURE
Hybrid Interconnect
Connects multiple AI factories using fibre optic, wireless, and high-speed links — so they work as one system, not isolated boxes.
InfiniBand, DWDM, and mmWave hybrid links with Kafka/Pulsar event sync, multipath redundancy exceeding 10 Gbps, and dynamic seasonal reconfiguration based on renewable availability.
LAYER 02 · ORCHESTRATION
Intelligent Workload Routing
Decides which AI factory runs which job — considering speed, cost, energy source, and carbon footprint. It learns and gets smarter over time.
Three-tier: static multi-factor scoring → gRPC real-time routing (<5 ms, mTLS) → RL-based adaptive placement with session affinity, carbon-aware routing, and multi-agent regional coordination.
LAYER 03 · DATA SOVEREIGNTY
Your Data Stays Where You Need It
Ensures sensitive data never leaves the jurisdiction you choose. Supports fully air-gapped (offline) deployments for maximum security.
NVMe edge storage (20+ TB, 800 Gbps InfiniBand), air-gapped on-prem appliances with TPM secure boot + tamper detection, GDPR/CCPA jurisdiction enforcement, pseudonymised identifiers, immutable Merkle-tree audit trails.
LAYER 04 · MARKETPLACE
Decentralised GPU Marketplace
Buy and sell GPU compute time on a transparent marketplace — with smart contracts ensuring fair pricing and automatic payment.
Blockchain smart contract escrow, jurisdiction-aware bidding, time-zone optimisation. Multi-service: GPUaaS, PaaS, MaaS. Cross-cluster fine-tuning with AES-256 encrypted checkpoints and <30 s failover.
LAYER 05 · RELIABILITY
Enterprise-Grade Resilience
Continuously monitors hardware health, reroutes around problems, and intentionally injects faults to prove the system can survive them.
K8s CRD-based rack health with contamination detection, staged remediation through NVLink isolation, chaos-resilient training via live gRPC fault injection with sidecar agents, Monte Carlo SLA calculation.
LAYER 06 · FRONTIER
Next-Generation AI Distribution
Experimental technologies for distributing AI models at the speed of light and running culturally-aware AI powered by surplus renewable energy.
Holographic optical encoding of model weights with precision-tier separation. Cross-cultural AI with renewable energy surplus gating, blockchain-signed carbon data, ML-based bias detection.
The Interlock

Why hardware × software matters

Most companies sell hardware or software. Tonomia engineered them as a single closed-loop system — each half makes the other more powerful.

Hardware alone is blind
Competitors selling GPU containers have no thermal intelligence, no renewable optimisation, no fleet coordination. Their containers exhaust heat to the sky and wait for jobs to arrive.
Software alone is theoretical
Cloud orchestrators cannot actuate thermal valves, manage battery arbitrage, or enforce fire-zone safety. They optimise within their domain and ignore the physical world.
Tonomia owns both
The integration across 13 technology domains creates a system that competitors cannot replicate by combining off-the-shelf parts. The interlock itself is the competitive advantage.
